Nagpur: Short-distance Nagpur runners Sanyogita Misar and Aniket Nalawade brought home a gold medal each from New Delhi and Ranchi during the Indian Athletics Series. The domestic competition featuring multiple legs across the country is organised by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to boost athletes' rankings and identify talent.In the third series held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on Saturday, Sanyogita from the SB City Sports Club secured first place in the 100 metres hurdles event in the U-20 girls' category. She clocked 15.67 seconds for the gold. In the women's 1,500 metres race, Bhavyashree Mahalle finished sixth with a timing of 4:51.85 minutes.In the fourth series held at the Birsa Munda Stadium, Ranchi, on Sunday, Aniket Nalawade from the Local Sprinters and Rider Club won the 100 metres race, clocking 10.60 seconds, in the senior category. Jharkhand's Sadanand Kumar (10.85 seconds) and Safin Lakra (10.98 seconds) finished second and third, respectively. In the women's 100m race, Dhanashri Kamathe finished seventh with a time of 12.99 seconds, informed NDAA secretary Sharad Suryavanshi.Sanyogita trains under Avinash Pantawane while Aniket practises with Shamsher Khan.
